StepBot is a brand new desktop companion robot that can perform stepping motion. You can also define it as a movable desktop decoration.
In most cases, StepBot will stay quietly on your desktop. When you want to play with it, just click the sensing area above the head to control StepBot to move or stay still.
Industrial Design
We chose a simple shape. As you can see, it is a square shell with 6 movable short legs. We designed three different styles, red, yellow and black, named StepBot001, StepBot002, and StepBot003, and designed four accessory connection methods for each style, each of which corresponds to a working mood.
Mechanical Design
As a desktop ornament that accompanies you to work every day, StepBot is designed to be 3cm*3cm*4.5cm in size, so that you can easily hold it in your hand.
We use a clever crankshaft connecting rod walking mechanism to provide moving steps. The power is output through the hollow cup DC reduction motor and transmitted to the crankshaft through gears.
We installed magnets on both sides of the StepBot's body and ears. Thanks to the magnet connection design, you can connect multiple StepBots together, or connect different ears.
Electronic Design
In terms of circuit, we use the touch signal of your finger on the shell and provide a voltage stabilization circuit through XC6206P302MR to keep your StepBot always at the same walking speed, providing you with a consistent companionship experience.
When it can't continue walking, you can charge it using the TypeC connection. The charging indicator will turn red, and the indicator will turn green when fully charged.
